Who I Am — and Why I Built the 5AM Squat Club

My name is Adam, and I’ve been coaching health and fitness for over 25 years.

I have a degree in kinesiology, I founded a CrossFit gym in 2012, and I’ve worked with everyone from military and police recruits to seniors who just want to stay independent. I’ve spent most of my adult life helping people build strength that actually carries over into real life.

But the 5AM Squat Club wasn’t built from credentials.

It was built from how I live — and from a season that forced me to get clear on what actually matters.

A Season That Changed Everything

In 2020, government mandates shut down our gym. For what felt like years, promoting movement, strength, and health was treated like a problem instead of a solution.

Structure disappeared.
Community fractured.
And the habits that keep people grounded quietly eroded.

I felt it too.

Not in a dramatic way — but in later mornings, reactive days, and the slow loss of a system that used to anchor everything.

That season taught me something important:

If your health depends on someone else’s permission, it isn’t secure.

Taking Responsibility Instead of Waiting

I could have stayed frustrated.
I could have waited for things to “go back to normal.”

Instead, I took responsibility for what I could control.

I rebuilt a simple morning system:

  • Wake up early

  • Move my body

  • Rehearse responsibility and gratitude

  • Do focused work on what actually matters

No facilities.
No permission.
No perfect conditions.

Just consistency.

That system didn’t just improve my fitness — it brought clarity, patience, and momentum back into my life.

Eventually, it became the 5AM Squat Club.

The Philosophy Behind It

Everything I teach comes back to a few core beliefs:

  • Personal accountability matters

  • Real health is built through daily habits, not shortcuts

  • Humans are meant to move, eat real food, and spend time outdoors

  • You don’t wait for someone else to fix your life

My family and I live this out as best we can.
We raise our protein regeneratively.
We eat real, unprocessed food.
We homeschool.
We spend time outside.
We move daily.

Not because it’s extreme — but because it’s human.

Why I Share This Publicly

I didn’t build the 5AM Squat Club as a brand.

I built it as a tool — first for myself, and then for anyone who needed a simple, repeatable way to rebuild discipline and direction.

I run the routine alongside the people who show up.
No perfection.
No pretending.

And there’s another reason I do this.

I want my kids to see — clearly — that you can build a meaningful life if you:

  • Decide intentionally

  • Choose a purpose

  • And work toward it consistently

Not overnight.
Not perfectly.
But daily.

If This Resonates

You don’t need to live on a farm.
You don’t need to train at 5AM forever.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.

You just need to stop waiting and start acting.

That’s what the 5AM Squat Club is about.
